Very early Seecol (Strand Electric & Engineering Co) theatre lights.

Circa 1930's

Similar to the later Strand Pattern 43 or 44 these lamps have a vented steel body, with cast locking wheels and a copper lens holder. The filter holder is stamped SEECOL, ENGLAND.

The familiar Strand name plate has scalloped corners and  bears the Seecol name, phone number and telegram address which helps to date the lamp to early in the company's history.

Originally 500w fixtures, each has been rewired to take a standard ES27 bulb, with inline switch and 13a plug.

The tilt locking wheels and focus mechanism work as the should.

original 6" plano-convex glass lens in perfect condition, engraved with Seecol company details.

Lamp measures 43 x 28 x 28 cm including tilt locking wheels.

Each lamp has been mounted on a new stand, although care has been taken to create stands that are in keeping with the period of the lamps. The stands have been constructed in the same manner as the original Seecol stands with telescoping steel tube, extending to over 6 foot (excluding the lamps). They are fitted to very heavy cast iron bases, made by the well respected English photographic equipment manufacturer, DeVere. The bases have the company name cast into them in relief. The stands are finished off with cast iron tightening thumb wheels.

Because of the size and weight of these lamps and stands, uk shipping is £30. International buyers please contact me for an accurate shipping cost.
